Battery chargers: choose by the battery and the job
Compare the exact voltage and chemistry modes, charging capacity and power requirements before choosing a current rating.
Start with four details
Record the battery’s voltage, chemistry and amp-hour capacity, plus whether you need charging or ongoing maintenance. Read the battery manufacturer’s charging requirements and the exact charger manual. The vehicle selected in AutoFixed does not establish which battery is currently installed or approve a charger for it.
Use the capacity figures to narrow the list
GENIUS1, GENIUS2, GENIUS5 and GENIUS10 list charging capacities up to 30, 40, 120 and 230 Ah respectively. Their output currents are 1, 2, 5 and 10A. Compare these alongside the permitted charging rate for the actual battery. A maintenance capability or larger amp number does not replace that check.
Read the voltage and chemistry together
The lithium mode on these records is for a 12V battery with a battery management system (BMS). It does not establish 6V lithium support. All four list 12V AGM; GENIUS10 also lists 6V AGM. The separate model manuals are the useful reference when a short specification label seems ambiguous.
These are AC-powered chargers and maintainers. If the buying job is portable starting assistance, read the charger-versus-jump-starter guide and compare the jump-starter category separately. Neither category establishes an automated diagnosis or a guaranteed recovery for a faulty battery.
